How we met
I met Josh the night of my sister’s bachelorette party on August 28, 2009.
The girls and I rented hotel rooms near Disneyland and took a party bus from Anaheim to Hermosa Beach. Though I had never been to the South Bay area, I knew it was going to be anything but a letdown. We only made it into three bars that night, but the first stop at Sangria was by far the most, if not the only, memorable one.
One of my cousins and I were standing outside waiting to rally the group and get in when we found ourselves talking to a couple guys. When we finally made it into Sangria, we ran into one of those guys, again, but this time he had a new buddy with him.
This new guy was wearing a red Spiderman t-shirt, had spikey hair, and short, yet unshaven, facial hair I couldn’t, and still can’t get enough of. We were engulfed by the fun madness of loud music, and people dancing and drinking, but I vividly remember him coming close to my right side and telling me his name was “Josh.”
I felt a bit like a chaperone that night, though a completely intoxicated one, periodically looking over at my sister as she danced her “last night of freedom” away with her girlfriends while I spent the rest of my time sharing who cares and what nots with this way hotter Justin Timberlake look-alike. (If you know me, you know I love me some JT.) I invested my “one free drink of the night” goal in him, but little did I know I met my match.
I always made it a point to never buy a random girl a drink. And Katrina was no exception. But after spending half the night talking and dancing with her, I had to have her number. I couldn’t get enough of her beautiful smile, her laugh and her voice. I had to see her, again… -J
We talked, we danced, and he never bought me a drink, but somehow managed to get my number. He called me three times that night followed by many conversations over the next three months, but we never met up until I gave him a shot at a first date on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. We saw each other every Wednesday since that day and it was then that the rest was history… -K
See how we got engaged here!
